So I saw an ad for a Raspberry Pi Zero for a mere $5 at my local electronics shop and figured I’d give it a go. The board is much smaller than it’s kin. The Pi 2 and Pi 3 being almost twins. This board had a distinctive ‘baby brother’ feel.

The specs aren’t too bad considering how small it is. That is, in terms of raw computing power.

A key thing to note is that you get very little by way of connectivity out of the box. No network interface at all. You’d need to either buy a micro-USB to USB adapter and then add a Wi-Fi dongle or populate the GPIO pins and attach a Wi-Fi adapter using the SDIO bus of the ESP8266.
