About Me
Hi, I’m Mark Tinderholt, a Principal Architect in Azure Core Engineering at Microsoft. For most of my career, I’ve been a traveling technology consultant, building software for a diverse range of customers and helping them leverage the power of the cloud, especially Azure. I’m passionate about software development, cloud architecture, and guiding organizations through multi-cloud environments. I’m also a strong advocate for DevOps culture and automation using Terraform. I funnel my passion into teaching through my YouTube channel, Azure Terraformer, local community meetups, and public speaking.
Azure Terraformer
Azure Terraformer has grown beyond YouTube, becoming a welcoming space for the Azure Terraform community on LinkedIn and through Discord. It’s a place where Azure practitioners, architects, and developers can connect to share ideas, learn from one another, and discuss Azure architecture, automation with Terraform, and related technologies like Packer, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and more. The community is focused on helping each other explore and apply best practices in cloud automation on Azure.
Mastering Terraform
I also wrote a book called, Mastering Terraform. It covers designing cloud solutions and automating them across the multi-cloud with Terraform. It explores three cloud computing paradigms—Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Kubernetes, and Serverless—equally across AWS, Azure, and GCP. Whether you’re just starting out or deep into your cloud journey, no matter which cloud or services you’re using, this book has something for you.
Udemy
I’m also a Udemy instructor, where I teach Terraform to help students master Infrastructure-as-Code on Azure. My course, Terraform 101: Azure Edition, is designed to take learners from the basics of Terraform to confidently deploying and managing Azure resources using best practices. Whether you’re new to Terraform or looking to refine your skills, my course provides hands-on guidance and practical insights to help you succeed in cloud automation.
Community
Outside of technology, I’m passionate about music and have a deep love for classical music. I proudly support my local symphony, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and regularly attend their performances, never missing a chance to re-listen to my favorite works. Can you guess who my favorite composer is?
