This past week has been a whirlwind! I just wrapped up my first Terraform training in Bangalore, and I’m still processing how it all went down. We had about 50 people in the classroom, and it was such a great experience to meet everyone face-to-face. Over the course of five days, we dug into the basics of Terraform, provisioned AWS EC2 virtual machines, and even built custom VM images using Packer. Here’s a group picture we took at the end of the training—it was great to see everyone so engaged and ready to take these skills forward.

Of course, no training goes off without a hitch, right? IT had a bit of a challenge getting the right tools set up for the students, so I had to think fast. I decided to spin up enough EC2 instances for everyone to use, preloaded with everything they’d need. All the students had to do was connect via RDP, which sounded like the perfect solution at the time. Well, in my rush, I accidentally checked in my AWS access key… and you guessed it—everything in the AWS account was deleted within seconds. I was sitting there, watching in horror as it all vanished! Here’s a shot of the office where that chaotic moment happened—it’s funny now, but at the time, I was in full panic mode.

Luckily, we regrouped quickly and got everything back on track. Once everyone was connected to their machines, the labs went smoothly. By the end of the week, we had a friendly competition to see who could complete the lab challenges the fastest. We gave out some awards to the top finishers, and I snapped this picture with the winners—there were some serious Terraform pros in the making!

Even with the chaos, it was such a rewarding experience to see everyone learning and growing. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to meet the team in person and spend the week diving into Terraform with them. I’ll definitely remember this training for a long time—both for the lessons learned and the amazing people I got to work with. Here’s a quick shot of me during the training, capturing the calm after the storm!
